Steve's Sizzling Steaks was started in 1936 when Steve
Venturini put his image on his wife Mary's pioneering
restaurant. Skeptical that a restaurant would make it,
he knew there needed to be a niche and by labeling it as
"a sportman club" they were set apart. Mary (the backbone
of the operation) remained diligently in the kitchen as
Steve handled the public relations and soon after, they
were well established.

Steve was an entrepreneur and a leader from the start.
With three main priorities, friends and family came first,
followed by hard work, then the rough edges were
smoothed with hunting and fishing trips. Everything that
followed were just details, but details of an incredible
life. From serving with the US Coast Guard, to fishing
with Babe Ruth & Ernest Hemmingway, to surviving 2
plane crashes, you could say his time was far from ordinary.

Because of this, Steve's is more than a steakhouse. It's a
reminder that life doesn't have to be boring, that hard work
gets rewarded, and that vegetarians don't know what
they're missing!
